PREVENTING LONELINESS


Friends in St Helier are on a mission to prevent loneliness, isolation and to keep people independent and living in their own homes.


All surveys (Harvard Medical Centre) show that loneliness leads to depression which leads to poor diet and in turn, can lead to Dementia.

FRESHLY COOKED MEALS


Friends in St Helier serves freshly cooked lunches each day including fresh meat, vegetables and a dessert.

We boast a 5-star hygiene ratin
g in all of our kitchens thanks to our dedicated chef and staff.

STAY WELL



At Friends In St Helier we aim to support users with long term conditions in order to maintain their health and independence through targeted activities.

KEEP ACTIVE



One of our aims is to give our members the opportunity to increase their physical activity.

We have a range of chair-based exercise sessions on offer including Pilates and balloon table tennis.

Services we provide

F.I.S.H is guided by members to plan the services on offer:

  •         Transport for the most frail
  •         Freshly cooked two course nutritious meal
  •         Speakers who advise on welfare rights, housing matters, money management, energy matters, and debt management
  •         Publicity and information about new and existing services, special events and opportunities provided by the voluntary sector   
  •         Production of the quarterly newsletter
  •         Annual holiday and excursions 
  •         Escorted shopping trips
  •         Shopping and prescription collection for frail and housebound
  •         Taking frail members to doctors and hospital appointments
  •         Hospital after care support
  •         Digital training
  •         Social clubs with the emphasis of joining in and making friends to create a local network of support
